some more on Healthcare/Warfare

a few days ago I posted some words about the hassle being made about healthcare-reform, and the huge amounts of money spent in the US on ‘defense‘, which seems to be taken for granted.
I’ve done some more surfing the net on the topic, and came to the conclusion that there are some weirdo’s overthere.

First I want to explain this is not about US-bashing, for me and many people in the world the US is the cradle of lots of interesting cultural things, science, literature etc. And lots of nice people. Helas there are some morons with the biggest mouths, as shown in the ‘townhall meetings’.

Maybe ‘culture’ is not the right word, actually America has no culture of its own (besides the natives’) but being a melting pot ‘american culture’ is the zenith of all cultures.
The frightening thing is the huge spendings on military, and the huge consumption, something like 5% of the world population consuming 25% of the recources. Leading to a deficit that seems unsolvable, and the suspicion that this war-machine is there to maintain the obesitas-hummer-lifestyle by obtaining the goods at gunpoint. Irak is about oil, Afghanistan is about gaspipelines that otherwise will go through the Russian hemisphere. Like the Georgia-conflict, same story. Democracy and religion are just the excuses. Other conflicts like in Africa about all kinds of crudes may have no direct military interference, but CIA and all kinds of special services are swarming around (like China’s, Korea’s, Japanees, European etc), with ‘development agents’ etc.

Reading some of the reactions on the healthcare issue, I get the impression of an upcoming civil war not far away. The fanatism and the trigger-happy ‘militias’ reviving after their slumber during 8 years of republican government are some scary ingredients. The hysteria on the ‘townhall meetings’ showing some pre-human evolutionary stadium, be it that a great group of those primates don’t believe in evolution, want to deny science (or leave it classified in army labs), and at the same time pretend to have the highest moral standards.
Like ‘pro life’, the strange mixture of anti-intelectualism, fundamentalism, and ‘love for live’, which some of them brings to taking other people’s lives… Too stupid to acknowledge that their policy of  ‘abstinention’ leads to far more abortions than some regulated system. Like regulating drugs instead of the war on drugs, like regulating whatever instead of their ‘freedom’ at the cost of a war on the rest of the world. Crazy enough to start a (civil) war. And I guess a good part of the army will choose the side of the primates, because they are drilled that way.

Saw this vid where the townhall (nearly)riots are attributed to some memo of the ‘right principles’ movement, which should be orchestrated by the insurance-companies.

Later, this was ‘debunked’, by saying the man had no ties to any lobby (he is insurance-agent by coincidence, but not for medical insurances), but not denying they spread the memo, just some parts of it ‘were highlighted out of context’ – is not that what they all do, especially when you encourage people to disturb debate by 5 ‘well prepared questions’, and yell them simultaniously to discourage the other side?

On ‘The Young Turks’ I saw an item with the same subject, so they are also part of this ‘liberal leftist conspiracy’, and from there I stumbled on this one, showing the primates in their natural habitat, obviously afraid of loosing their ‘white supremacy’, and showing their evil: someone with a bad conscience will subscribe their own deeds to the others…

Makes me wonder also, why is it that in the cirkles of people with those ‘moral standards’, christian, muslim, whatever, critisizing others for ‘loose morals’, that in those cirkles you’ll find the most rapes, incest, and all kinds of filth? I think I even don’t wonder, it’s the oppression and constantly pointing at other’s immoral behaviour that creates the perverted minds…

Here an article that shows there still are some non-morons overthere, like this one also.
Here a site which name says enough strange thing is some of the items I agree with, like the internet-control thing (though I doubt it is possible due to the decentralized structure of  ‘our’ net) but most of it is about the blessings of the conservative thinking, their obviously not-hated Fox and the fox’s mouth Glenn Beck, and this one is also on the right side, but at least the comments are diverse and there are some interesting between them

At Fox the scenario’s are allready discussed…

Another possibility is the USA just splitting up, States declaring themselves independent. But allthough America has done a lot to split up countries like the all too independent Yugoslavia, I doubt if the federal government will tolerate such behaviour, and then there’ll be also some kind of civil war, be it of an other nature.

Let’s hope non of the possibilities will come that far. Or maybe when it happens the biggest part of the population is busy watching some playoffs or Idols, ignoring what’s happening outside, like most of them now seem to ignore what’s happening abroad…

i know Piet- disgusting- or well….i don’t even really know how to put into words how upset I get at the backwards thinking lunacy that is – has been running rampant in America- rediculous-
that poster ticks me off too- rude- sad…and worse….people with no clue urging other idiots into violent behavior-
scares me- and not much of anything really ever has- my seeing and getting a feel for this campaign against health care – causing fear in people who are easily led to it- people over here have been living in fear for a long time now- they have forgotten how to think – and have lost touch with reality- so out of fear and ignorance they do the only thing they know how to do- and that is strike out in violence- i tend to agree with you- this isn’t going to just go away and i think the violence and anger will just keep a brewing- till it blows- and runs flat out amok…….i hope not- but it is how it seems to me-
on a lighter note though I did get a big kick out of your concluding that there are some weirdo’s over here- sad but true- but also- when I read it- I thought it was also funny as hell- too bad it is true though………
thanks Piet I enjoyed getting your perspective on this…..

also agreed with what you said about the people ranting about sex this – porn that- while embracing the very behavior they are so dead against behind closed door- etc. i have a minister friend who lives in the bible belt- midwest- that did some research into the thumpers that rant most about being gay – or porn- etc- are on record as being the largest consumers of these type goods- movies- internet stuff- what have you- and or arrests- for seeking gay or straight prostitutes- etc.
nothing like the pot calling the kettle black- usually the people that decry certain behaviors the loudest know all about it from their hidden- and personal activities or so it seems- anyways- bye again……..

    kind of update:
    http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2009/08/18/guns-at-obama-rallies-where-s-the-outrage.aspx

how low can you go, is the US a civilized country, or still some wild west gang orientated wilderness, and if so, why should the rest of the world listen to their moral lessons (at gunpoint?)

Or do the Glenn Becks, Fox, all the ‘true believers’ (I’m sure Jesus Christ himself should throw them out of the temple in rage like he did with the money-laundrers, and be ashamed of the crap done in his name) care at all what the rest of the world thinks?

and if any iron eating Beck fan stumbles on this page, go back a few days in this blog for an artistic view on the matter(s): http://tiny.cc/gDRTX

I know there is a problem, right-click open in a new window/tab whatever (in Firefox), soon I’ll have better hardware, and switch to wordpress.org instead of wp.com – too many people click on this preview-shit which opens the whole thing in the 1 frame, I cannot change the ‘_self’ into ‘ _top’, I cannot alter that…

  5. As an American it makes me sad to have to agree with this article…except the civil war part.

We can’t get our act together well enough to kick corrupt and greedy politicians out of office the easiest way possible…don’t keep electing them. There is no way to get enough people together to do anything like a civil war. True some crazies may do something violent like another home-grown terrorist like Timothy McVey but aside from killing innocents, nothing will be accomplished.

We have too many ignorant people, due in part to a public education system that is failing to teach which seems to be more about babysitting the kids than education. Not all mind you, but enough to assure a crop of students who don’t know how the world works. It is from these uneducated masses that the extreme fringes draw their support.

Congress is of little help because it is in their best interest to be able to fool as many voters as possible while spending the handouts they get from their corporate sponsors. They no longer listen to voters but to those who have paid them for their “services”.

I hope people will wake up and realize some day that they are not having their nation taken from them…they are giving it away.

200 Plus years ago it was a good plan but our forefathers had a fatal flaw in their thinking. They did not make provisions for greed to run rampant in Congress and in private corporations who buy congess.

They should have provided term limits for one thing.

I guess you’re right, anyway hope so.
But with all the chest-beating and the rumour made, you’d think the populistas are ready for it when you watch it from a distance. And there are who try to mobilize the ‘the moral majority’, spread all kinds of doomday-scenarios, as if they hope it’ll be some self-forfilling profecy…
At the other hand the conservatives alianate a big part of their grass roots from their ranks, people like this Jim (when you see this page in a frame on dewolken.net: right click and choose ‘open link in new window or tab)’

  6. What the rest of the world needs to understand is to separate actual news from entertainment passing as news. A good example is the Fox News Network which, for the most part, is not news at all but right wing ranting. They have a large audience but I suspect that many of those, like myself, are laughing at their stupid remarks, not taking them seriously.

Some will take those rants seriously but only a small but loud portion of our population.

This tends to create an over-sized image of a minority of people and that is a distortion of most Americans who are not radical at all.

Take our media with a grain of salt for much of it is not to be trusted with providing the truth.
